mi- ny: #177 BLUE SKY

Hello everyone!

mi- ny: #177 Blue Sky

Today I want to show you a gorgeous blue nail polish called Blue Sky from mi-ny. It's #177, and one of their Glam lacquers. Mi- ny is the new brand on my cruelty- free list! The nail polish is also 4- free.

Mi- ny has a lot of different and interesting nail polishes. I can't remember any duo chromes, but other than that I think I saw every finish possible, in addition to nail care, and bottles with striper brushes. The lady in the shop said it wasn't tested on animals, but when I came home, I couldn't get it confirmed. So I'm glad I finally found the courage to ask mi- ny on facebook. If you want to read their answer, just click here. They were very kind and gave me a very informative answer about animal testing in the European Union, and the ban that started this week! :-) I wish each rabbit, dog, mouse, rat, or other research animal could understand what the EU ban means for them.

I've already used Blue Sky and a mint colored cream polish called Klimt for dotting nail art, but this is the first time I use Blue Sky as a full manicure. 2 coats was enough. I really like the color. And it also looks good in low light. The first photo below shows what it looks like in street lights.

I also like that the cap is easy to hold.

Mi- ny is an Italian brand, and this nail polish is made in Italy. Mi- ny can be bought online here or in these stores.

I'm sorry, but it will no longer be possible for anonymus users to comment on my blog. I wanted everyone to be able to comment, but had to change the settings after some strange comments. Please tell me if this makes it difficult to comment.

Vintage- Polish Days March- Old bottles of polish

My vintage nail polish collection

Hello everyone!

This months Polish Days theme is VINTAGE, so here it is, the old part of my nail polish collection! :-) I'll show you the bottles of course, but I also picked 20 of them to show on a nail wheel. I haven't felt comfortable showing the collection until now, because sadly, I found out that most of these polishes are tested on animals. And most of the few brands that didn't test on animals then, started doing it. But with today's Polish Days theme, and now that the EU has stopped to test cosmetics on animals this week, I felt that I had an excuse to do it. Also, few of these bottles are still for sale.

If you want to know more about Polish Days, and how to join in next month, just click on the badge below.
As usual, you'll find thumbnails with links to all the other participants at the end of the post.

H&M Khaki Madness in the Botanical Garden

Hello everyone!

H&M: Khaki Madness

The nail polish I want to show you today is Khaki Madness by Hennes and Mauritz (H&M). It's been a tough week for both me, my nails and my PC. Below you can see what happened before I applied the second coat! I never get to have square nails for a long time... To compensate for the short nails, I added some flowers :-)

Broken nail, 1 coat of  H&M: Khaki Madness

So the rest of the photos shows my right hand. The nail on the index finger broke on that hand too, but they have had a week or so to grow. And I'm wearing a piece of teabag on the thumb nail on these photos. (But yesterday that nail broke...) When I started blogging it didn't matter which hand I used, but now the left is more used to pose, and I'm more used to hold the camera and take photos with the right hand.

Something bad happened to my dear PC. Luckily I have a boyfriend who loves to repair PCs, so it didn't have to go to "hospital". After some days he had to install Windows. So now not even the mouse wanted to behave as it used to. Everything has to be downloaded, and I even needed help to get these photos transferred to Picasa. It's very frustrating. And I'm afraid of clicking on things. But I'm glad I didn't have to buy a new PC.

I nearly forgot to tell about this polish! It's brand new. And I wanted to wear it right away. It's the exact same color as one of my T-shirts, and I love the color. It's a lovely mix of military green and gold. In the bottle it looks like there is some silver glitter, but  I couldn't see it on the nail. The color reminds me a little of Chanel Peridot, and very much of a Color Club glitter magnetic that I tried later that day. This is two coats. And as always, I like to mention that H&M is not tested on animals, and can be found on the animal organization's cruelty- free lists.

I have cut all my nails now. But now that I've decided to try fake nails, I wish I hadn't done it...  And of course I cut the ring finger nail a bit too short... I wish I didn't have so short nails right before the Tri- Polish Challenge. I'm also waiting for something from KKCenterHk that I need long nails to show you! :-(

It was really nice to see some flowers, and to feel the warmth in the greenhouses. I'm looking forward to summer.

Entry #2 to Konad Ireland's Black and White Competition

Hello everyone!

Entry #2

This is my second entry to Konad Ireland's Black and White Competition. I started with the white nails that were stamped with black animal print, that you saw in my last blog post. And I changed it by painting a black frame on each nail. Here is a photo of the mani before the frame was added:

You can find information about the competition and links, in my last post (about entry #1). I used Gosh Nero and a small brush to paint the frame, and used two coats of Seche Vite on top of that. Here you can see the finished result again:

The competition entry photo is the collage you saw in the first photo. I want to end this post with more photos of the framed mani, and a list of what I used.

Used:
OPI: My Boyfriend Scales Walls (white)
Konad: SP Black (stamping polish)
Konad stamping plates: m57, m69, and m78
Small brush
Gosh: Nero (black)

My first entry to Konad Ireland's Black and White Competition

Hello everyone!

Entry #1

You might have seen this entry on facebook on Saturday, and who won the contest yesterday. But I wanted to show my entries here on the blog too. Diana van Nisselroy really deserved to win the first prize. There were 6 prizes, and he is giving all participants a stamping plate!!! This is my first entry for Konad Ireland's Black and White Competition. I also made my first collage.

About the competition:
Needless to say we had to use black and white, and use Konad stamping plates. I found the competition very interesting, and felt that it made me think. We could choose one of 19 black and white photos as our inspiration. Just head over to Konad Ireland on facebook to see all the Black and White competition themes.

What I did:
I chose the dress on photo #11 as my inspiration. This was the first time I made a collage, so I'm sorry that it doesn't show the whole dress. I started with white nails, and stamped with Konad SN Black and Konad stamping plate m57, m69, and m78, as you can see below. I used more than one plate on the index finger, thumb and pinky.

Konad stamper and scraper, Konad stamping plates m57, m69, and m78
I'm not completely satisfied with the end result, but it is OK. And it has made me want to do more stamping nail art.

Color Club: #998 Miss Bliss

Hello everyone!

Color Club: Miss Bliss                                                                                                                           Light source: sunset

Good Morning, Miss Bliss. This rosy shade is better than a kiss.

This is how Color Club describes this nail polish! :-)

Color Club: Miss Bliss                                                                                                                       Light source: Ott- Lite

Today I want to show you lots of pictures of this pink strong linear holographic nail polish. (20 to be precise :-) ) Miss Bliss #998 is from the Halo Hues 2013 collection, and is not tested on animals.

Color Club: Miss Bliss                                                                                                                       Light source: Ott- Lite

The photos were taken outside during sunset, and inside in front of an Ott- Lite lamp, and a LED lamp, and two were taken in the sun from the window.

EDIT: Updated with light source in the text under each photo.

I used two thin coats, no top coat. As with all my holographic nail polishes I prefer to use a base coat for holographic nail polish.
