Nostalgic Nail Lacquer: Date at Midnight with Nosferatu

Hello everyone!

This is my first grey with pink glitter (actually my first grey with glitter ever). The glitter is in two shades of pink, hexagonal, and in two pretty small sizes. The polish is called: Date at Midnight with Nosferatu. At first I thought about an Egyptian queen, but she was called Nefertiti, but my boyfriend knew more than me; He remembered Nosferatu from a movie from 1922. The movie is called: Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens. And according to Wikipedia, "nosferatu" is the word for "vampire" in the movie. The rest of the title means; "a symphony of the grey". So it makes sense that the base of the nail polish is grey, especially if it's inspired by a black and white movie. And now I think the cute pink glitter symbolizes blood, but my boyfriend disagrees.

It's also my first Nostalgic Nail Lacquer bottle. I was wondering if this indie brand was cruelty- free, and found this written on the website: All lacquers are created by me, in my home, with high quality pigments, micas, glitter, and dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde and toluene free bases. They are cruelty free unless otherwise noted. So, when I looked up the polish, and nothing was mentioned about testing on animals, I bought it, and received it in December.

For all these photos, except for the next 3 photos, I used 3 coats, and a fourth on my index finger, and top coat. I used one thin coat and two thick ones. Just to show you how sheer it is, I'll show you what 1, 2, and 3 coats looks like. But look how shiny it looks!

I felt that the third coat covered some of the glitter particles. But later, when I did a mistake during stamping, I used acetone to remove the top layers. And I saw that the hidden glitter emerged. I had heard about this technique, but never tried it because I thought the cotton would leave too many hairs in the polish.

I liked this nail polish a lot. I would recommend to remove glitter that ends up outside your nails, before each coat dries, or it will take time to get it off your skin. When I tested the polish on my nail wheel, I thought it had to be used as a layering polish, but wanted to try it once on it's own first. I kind of liked wearing it like this, but now I can see how much of the nail polish I have used... so I'll probably layer it over grey to not empty the bottle too quickly.

My entry to The Lacquerologist's Contest

The Lacquerologist is having a 6 Month Blogiversary NAIL ART CONTEST, and this is my entry.

First, I will tell a bit about the contest, and after that I will show you more photos of my design, and what I used to make it. A click on the orange picture below, will take you to The Lacquerologist's post about her contest, where you can see thumbnails of all my fellow participants entries. You still have time to join in. It closes August 5. I'm just a bit early because I want to participate in some other contests too. And I had been thinking about this design for some time, so this contest helped me to get started.

Thank you The Lacquerologist for having this contest! And happy blogiversary!
