Deborah Lippmann: Forget You

Hello everyone!

I bought Deborah Lippmann's Forget You a long time ago. Then (in 2011?) I wasn't used to wearing black nail polish, although I had no problem wearing black clothes. But now I feel ok with dark nails, so I'm finally showing you this multicolored glitter in a black jelly base on it's own. (I have shown pieces of it in this geometrical nail art.) Here is a close- up, where you can see the shape of the glitter:

I bought Forget You as a part of the "Get this party started" set, but now it's possible to buy the bottles separately. (Sorry, but I think I've seen Forget You in shops, but now that I tried to double check before I posted, I couldn't even find it on her web site)

The three bottles in the set are all multicoloured glitters; "Happy Birthday" in a clear base, "Forget You" with black base, and "Candy Shop" in bubblegum pink base. I must admit that I only got the set because I wanted Candy Shop, but now I'm glad I have all of them. And I'll show you the purple based glitter soon (I hope). I't called "Let's Go Crazy". It's strange to see how different they look, even though they're supposed to contain the same glitter.
(I used Happy Birthday for nail art in my first blog post: Glitter-illusion-dots , my entry to Chalkboard Nails nail art contest. And the Candy Shop post is my most popular. I have used Happy Birthday many times, and showed it on the blog over a turquoise- white- orange gradient, as a layering option, and as a glittery tip with Christmas stickers, in addition to the first post. The plan was to franken different colored jellies to use with Happy Birthday, but that never happened...)

On these photos I used three coats, but that was just because I was curious. Forget You is opaque in two coats, and I think the third coat darkened the glitter more than necessary. I was wearing two coats on my left hand, but the only photo with two coats is the close- up.

As all her nail polishes, Forget You is named after a song.

And as I like to mention, Deborah Lippmann nail polishes are vegan, free of formaldehyde, toulene and dibutyl phtalate, and most important: not tested on animals :-)

What I also like is that Deborah Lippmann makes such a variety of nail polish. You can see her collection, and find a store locator on her web site.

The Tri- Polish Challenge: Day 8, Turquoise- White- Orange Gradient & Multicolored Glitter

Turquoise- White- Orange Gradient & Multicolored Glitter & Matte Top Coat

I started with white nails, and wanted the tip to be orange, and the other half of the nail turquoise, and tried to make a gradient towards the white center of the nail. Then I top coated, and added one coat of multicolored glitter, and top coated again. So I'll start with photos after top coat, then with matte top coat. And after the list of what I used, photos from how it was done.

With matte top coat:

IsaDora: #967 Clear 6-in-1 (base coat)
OPI: My Boyfriend Scales Walls (white)
H&M: Bella's Choice (turquoise)
Gosh: #570 Peachy (orange)
Seche Vite: Dry Fast (top coat)
Deborah Lippmann: Happy Birthday (clear base with multicolored glitter)
Poché: Super Fast Drying (top coat)
Gosh: #600 Matt Effect Top Coat


What I did:

As you see, I used different techniques this time, but I would never have managed to make a gradient if I hadn't seen this Gradient Nails Tutorial made by The Nailasaurus. And I just saw on facebook that it has it's 1 year anniversary today, so I felt I should mention it. It has been very helpful. I am so used to use her technique that I forget to give her credit any more. But I did, the first time I made a gradient.

Today I'm showing you Skinfood #5. I got this South Korean nail polish as a gift in 2011. After some searching, I found out that it's: Skinfood Party Tox Nail No.5 Seaweed Party. Party Tox Nail is the name of the line.

I was wearing this polish on Christmas Day. If I remember correctly, this is 2 coats of Seaweed Party, with top coat (Seche Vite). This is a classic red with glitter in orange, light blue, light green, red, and light purple. You can also use it as a layering nail polish. I have tried it over black, but prefer it on it's own.

Glitter- illusion- dots

Hello everyone!


This is my very first attempt on making a post on my first blog ever. I have taken pictures of my polished nails for some time, so I have a lot to show you. But first I have to learn how to blog and how to watermark the photos.

I tried to make dots that should look like big glitter, with the dotting tool and various nailpolishes in a random order

Here you see the silver-purple color of the duochrome polish. It was much more difficult to capture than the silver or silver- green.

I hope you liked my pictures! If you look at the other entries in this competition, you will see that there are a lot of beautiful designs, so I doubt I will win. But it was fun to come up with ideas, and I am so glad I partisipated, and excited about finally having a blog, even though it has been a lot to learn about how to do everything on the PC, and so difficult that I several times almost gave up. But my best friend helped me, again and again. And next time everything will not be new :-)

For this design, I used two Deborah Lippmann polishes; Wicked Game, and Happy Birthday on the tips. Then I added dots of nailpolish in some of the same colors that you find in the glitter.

I feel so good using the Deborah Lippmann polishes because they are cruelty free. It is even written on the bottlebox. I wish all the brands who do not test on animals, would mark their products too. To see Deborah Lippmanns collection klick here.
