Valentine's Day nails: Purple holo with red hearts

Hello everyone!

Today I have one more Valentine's Day mani for you. I painted my nails with Color Club: Eternal Beauty, a purple linear holographic nail polish, and stamped red hearts over it. Then I used a holographic glitter top coat, and added red heart shaped rhinestones. If was my boyfriend who came up with the idea to use this image on all the nails.

Color Club: # 999 Eternal Beauty is a linear holographic purple nail polish from Color Club's Halo Hues 2013 collection. According to Color Club's website all nail polishes are vegan, and free of formaldehyde, toluene, DBP and paraben - and made in New York, USA, and not tested on animals :-)

If I understood it correctly, Color Club is a part of the Forsythe Cosmetic Group, which can be found on the Leaping Bunny list of brands that do not test on animals.

I've been ill for a few days (but at the same time very happy since this polish arrived in the mail on Saturday!!!), and when I got my strength back it was dark, so the photos are taken inside. I used Ott- lite, a LED lamp, and a regular lamp with yellowish light. But when I looked through the photos, I liked just one of the Ott- lite photos, and that is the one with white background. The LED photos are the ones where you can see the holo best, but then the rhinestone hearts looked much darker than they do in real life.

These are the things that I got in December. My mother gave me money for Christmas, and I used it to buy most of these nail polishes on sale between Christmas and New Years Eve. The rest of the money covered a large part of the stamping plates (that I already had bought). I also got Deborah Lippmann Let's go Crazy and the OPI nail polish remover for Christmas. The diameter of this stamping plate is 6 cm, but the snowflakes are small and beautiful. They are in different sizes, but most of them are around 5 mm.

This is a limited edition New Years plate. The diameter is 7 cm, which is bigger than the other stamping plates. (Konad and Bundle Monster are 5,7 cm.) With full nail images of this size, it's possible to use different parts of the image so that all the nails don't look identical. The other images are also big; Big Ben is 1,9 x 5,0 cm. The text is 1 x 0,8 cm. The clock is 1 cm in diameter. The balloon image is  0,9 x 1,1 cm.

Heart of a Vampire

I got this idea from the black heart on the Nostalgic nail lacquer bottle. I was thinking about the heart of Nosferatu, when I was wearing this nail polish called: Date at Midnight with Nosferatu. A vampire's heart longing for blood... I think the polish looks good in the bottle with the black heart, and wanted to make the same look on my nails. These are not traditional Valentines Day colors, but I like them and the pink glitter that shines through.

I looked at my notes today, and found out that I have more ideas for Valentines Day nails than there are days left. I want to make more Valentines Day nails using my stamping plates. I also have many ideas for Valentines Day nail art, and have seen two tutorials and want to recreate those manis too. Needless to say, I won't have time to make all of them. This is the only one I've done, so it's time to get started.

The tree is inspired by Robin Moses. I learned how to paint a tree in the snow from her Christmas tree nail art tutorial. Only  it's not Christmas. We are just out for a walk by the the forest. It's a regular winter day, a long long time ago. The sun is going down, making a beautiful yellow sunset sky, and the horse is eager to get home... This is what I try to fit into these nails, after being given this months Polish Days theme; "Back to Nature"

These nails are made by a mix of different techniques; some freehand painting (tree, snow, hare, fox), some stamping (horse), and some sponging (sunset). I used a base of nail polish, and painted with acrylic paint. I was not sure if I should paint the fox, or something else, or just change the snow on my pinky. I included two photos from before the fox was painted too. So now you can see what you like best. What would you have done with the pinky?

After watching Les Miserable, a commercial with a winter setting, and very beautiful sunsets lately, it wasn't difficult to get inspired. I must say I admire people like Bear Grylls and the couple from Man Woman Wild, who travel to different parts of the world and manage to survive alone out in the nature. Although they have tried to teach us all of their tricks, the most important thing I realised/ learned is that I will probably not manage to survive without modern equipment and a house. Even they had to give up, and call their team of helpers a few times... So I have become much more careful, so that I don't get lost or something.

Gina Tricot: #17 Aspen gold is a yellow cream nail polish. I used 2- 3 coats and top coat (Seche Vite). I had no issues with this polish, and really like the color. And if you remember my last old bottles of polish post, you know I needed more yellow polishes. Please pretend that the little wound on my finger isn't there.

I found this bottle together with the ones that were on sale after Christmas. With all this snow it felt strange to wear a color like this, but when I looked at the bottle to see what it was called, the snow felt appropriate. I guess it's not always snow in Aspen, but in all the movies I've seen that's supposed to be in Aspen, it is. But now, after taking all the snowy photos, I googled Aspen gold, and found out that it's actually a name for a yellow color.
