Old bottles of polish: Guerlain N°3 Brun

Hello everyone!

Guerlain N°3 Brun is one of my oldest bottles of nail polish. You might remember it from my vintage collection post. This is a dark brown creme polish with a subtle shimmer. You can see it on the photos that are taken in the sun. I hadn't used it for years, and the bottle seemed empty. But after adding thinner, the polish behaved like a one coater. So I added more, and then I noticed the shimmer! :-) I'm wearing 2 coats+ Seche Vite. The photos of the thumb were taken before top coat. Look how shiny it is! I don't know if this polish is a teenager or a young adult. Please let me know if you remember/ know.


I'll start with swatches, and then you can take a closer look at the bottle. (I'm sorry about my nail shape. It's because three nails on this hand are broken.)

Now I never wear brown polish. But a long time ago I used brown a lot. And it felt very strange when I was going to paint my nails, but now I like it again.

Sadly Guerlain is on the list of brands that are tested on animals, so I don't recommend buying from them. I just wanted to show you my vintage nail polish. And I wanted to show it before you see the nail art I made for the GOT Polish Challenge.

GOT Polish Challenge: Ignored for too long

I was feeling ill, and think I had a little fever today, so I had to do something quick and easy. So foil it is. I had ignored very many polishes for too long, but had luckily decided on Zoya Jem, and was already wearing it.

2 days later: I'm well now, and noticed that I had added the wrong inlinkz, so I'm glad I set the blog post back to draft.

Jem is from Zoya's Smoke and Mirrors Collection Fall 2011. So I was surprised that I had to add thinner. The color reminds me of dark, very ripe sweet cherries. I like this dark purple shimmer very much, but after I bought it, I found Zoya on the "NO- list", and that's why I just couldn't wear it. But Zoya is now on the cruelty- free list! :-)

I just dipped a little brush in glue, and tried to make a frame of triangles, waited for the glue to turn invisible, and then applied the nail foil. I held a piece of foil over the nail, and pressed it down with a finger or a Q-tip, and lifted it up.

This is a gold nail foil that looks kind of holographic. I bought it from KKCenterHk. The glue was a gift from last year, when they let me try their silver nail foil.

I used Picture Polish Revolution as top coat, because I had heard that it was supposed to work over foil. It didn't dull the nail foil, but it didn't prolong the weartime either. I didn't do much before going back to bed, and I could already see that the foil had started to wear off on the tips.

Do you know a top coat that works over foil? Have you tried any water based top coats?

LIVE ♥ laugh ♥ love - fanbrush stripes & stamping nail art - pastels from Deborah Lippmann's "Spring Reveries" Collection - Valentine's Day nails #10

Stage 4

I started with pastel mint green nails. Then I used a fan brush to make stripes in pastels (yellow, lime green, blue and lavender). I used all the nail polishes from Deborah Lippmann's 2014 limited edition "Spring Reveries" Collection, except for the pastel orange. Instead I used Ruby Kisses: Lavender Dream, that I've showed you earlier.

I stamped with China Glaze: Adore, BM- 405 (text) and BM- H16 (flowers).
BM-405 is from Bundle Monster's 2013 "Create Your Own" Collection, and BM-H16 is from the 2013 Holiday Collection. But now it's possible to buy individual plates too.
Adore is from China Glaze's Romantique Collection from Spring 2009. Shades from that collecion are Messy Mansion's favorites for stamping, so I wanted to try it. I found this teal on eBay, and it worked very well for stamping.

This manicure kind of evolved, so there are different versions of it below.

Here you see the palette. I've fallen in love with these pastels. You'll find their names in the product list. I was very pleased with the result you see below,

I made this manicure for a AIS Sunday challenge in March, when I was very happy to see these spring flowers.

This version is with only two flowers.

Then I accidentally removed too much when I tried to use tape to do the clean up. So I applied the DL shimmer (La Vie En Rose) from the same collection on some of the nails. And then I filled in the flowers with the shimmer, but it didn't look good, so I took the flowers off. (No pictures of stage 5)

The last version is with the text on all nails and shimmer on all nails except the middle finger nail:

XL stamper (black with white soft and small red hard stamper)
Stamping polish: China Glaze: Adore (teal metallic)
Stamping plates: BM- 405 (LIVE ♥ laugh ♥ love) and BM- H16 (flowers)
Lint roller to clean the stamper
Scotch tape to remove my mistakes/ for clean up, (which minimised the need for clean up with a brush dipped in acetone)

Duri Rejuvacote as base coat and Seche Vite top coat.


As I've mentioned before Deborah Lippmann products are not tested on animals.

Favorite Color Combo

Today's challenge in Adventures In Stamping is "Favorite Color Combo". My favorite colors are green and purple. Here I use different shades of the two colors. I like all kinds of purple, from pastel to vampy dark, and from nearly pink to nearly blue(, maybe because I also like pink and blue?) I also love most greens, but not all of them. In this mani I tried to put my favourite colors together, but now that I see the result, I don't think it's my favourite color combo.

I used Konad m69 on the pinkie and middle finger. I also stamped with Konad SP Green and Cheeky Jumbo plate 9 Wild at Heart on the thumb, but it didn't turn out so well, but here is a photo of what it looked like before the stamping, where you can see the thumb:

This nail polish is called #82 Deep sea, and was bought at Gina Tricot, a store that sells clothes, jewellery, bags and cosmetics. Most bloggers call Gina Tricot's nail polishes "Gina Tricot", as I did in the headline, but on Gina Tricot's web cite, they call it "Bella nail polish". What's written on the bottle is "Gina Tricot Beauty nails".

Nfu- Oh 51 over H&M Notoriously Beautiful

Today I want to show you one of my favorite nail polishes; Nfu- Oh 51. You might have seen it earlier on my blog, but only briefly. This time I chose to layer it over a dark blue H&M cream to hide my nail line, because Nfu- Oh is a jelly. And to use less of the Nfu- Oh. When I wear it alone I use about 4 coats (if I remember correctly). You might also have seen the dark blue cream called H&M Notoriously Beautiful in the same post, (where I tried to get the look of Deborah Lippmann "Ray of Light". To see it, click here.)
