#1 Finger Painted Contest- Emperor Penguins

Hello everyone!

Finger Painted is celebrating 400 followers with a nail art contest and a giveaway. What's very special about this contest is that we can enter as many times as we like! So this is my entry #1.

The theme is anything safari/ jungle/ animal inspired. I really liked the theme, and it has made me think and think. I've had very many ideas, but it was more difficult to paint on my nails than I had expected. So my first entry is one I made in April for Penguin Day:

Entry #1 from Lani

Entry #1 from Lani

These are emperor penguins. The ones with yellow on their necks are grown ups, the one swimming is a juvenile, and the grey ones are chicks.

In this competition we are asked to tell about our inspiration.

My inspiration: I have seen the movie "March of the Penguins", some YouTube videos like the one about Lola who lived in Japan, and the story about Happy Feet who was saved from a beach in New Zealand. To draw these penguins I looked at some photos.

Edited August 2019:

"For the middle finger I was also inspired by a painting. If I ever find it, I will update this post.

I think the first time I saw a penguin manicure was in the Let it Snow! 2011 Winter Collab. Robin Moses (Robin Moses Nail Art on YouTube) and Beth (ProfessionalDQ on YouTube) came up with the idea for the collab. I want to say "Thank you!!!" to Robin Moses and Beth! I also want to thank Collette (My Simple Little Pleasures  on YouTube) for spreading the playlist! If it wasn't for the 3 of you I probably wouldn't have thought of painting penguins on my nails.

So I want to say "Thank you!" to everyone who had something to do with what I mentioned above!!!" :-)

Thank you Lexi for having this contest/ giveaway! Congratulations on getting 400 followers!

OPI Lady in Black+ Deborah Lippmann Private Dancer+ Cult Nails Seduction

Today I just want to show you what I was wearing in a birthday on Friday. I had a very limited time to get ready, so please don't look at the scratches and the too quick clean- up. But I liked this "dark purple with flakies look" so much that I took some photos of it when I came home.

Dark magnetic with pink or green shimmer: IsaDora #855 Northern Light

Hello everyone!

(If the photos appear to be too far to the right, please use Google Chrome)

IsaDora #855 Northern Light

After the solar storm about two weeks ago, they said on the news that it could be possible to see northern lights (aurora borealis) even further south than normal. So I painted my nails with IsaDora #855 "Northern Lights" on the 14th of July. I hoped to be able to photograph the nail polish with the sky full of northern lights as a background. Every night for some days I looked up at the sky, on both sides of the house, but there was nothing special to see...

In memory of 22nd of July 2011

Hello everyone!

In memory of 22nd of July 2011

I made this manicure in memory of what happened in Norway one year ago.

I hope things like that never happen again any place on Earth. And that we can work on how to prevent such things from happening, and make the world a better place.

My entry to The Lacquerologist's Contest

The Lacquerologist is having a 6 Month Blogiversary NAIL ART CONTEST, and this is my entry.

First, I will tell a bit about the contest, and after that I will show you more photos of my design, and what I used to make it. A click on the orange picture below, will take you to The Lacquerologist's post about her contest, where you can see thumbnails of all my fellow participants entries. You still have time to join in. It closes August 5. I'm just a bit early because I want to participate in some other contests too. And I had been thinking about this design for some time, so this contest helped me to get started.

Thank you The Lacquerologist for having this contest! And happy blogiversary!

Jelly Sandwich Day- Polish Days July

PURPLE STAR JELLY SANDWICH

Hello everybody!

(If the photos appear to be too far to the right, please use Google Chrome!)
Jelly Sandwich Day

Today is the first time I participate on Polish Day. I am very happy that I got this opportunity. Today we are all going to make a "Jelly Sandwich". I can't wait to take a look at how my fellow participants solved today's task. I will try to add links to their posts. Click here to read what Polly Polish writes about Polish Days and find out how you can join in. Here is my Jelly Sandwich:

Jelly Sandwich Day

A "Jelly Sandwich" is supposed to look like a jelly with glitter or flakies trapped inside. You just use a sheer nail polish, and put one or more layers of glitter/ flakies between layers of the sheer nail polish.
