Old bottles of polish: Helena Rubinstein 13 Red Magma

Hello everyone!

I am very sad to say that Helena Rubinstein is on the list of companies that do test on animals. I am very concerned about animals well being, and have stopped to buy Helena Rubinstein.

So this is not meant as advertisement. I just wanted to show you an old and beautiful nail polish.

Here is another old bottle of nail polish. I used to think that this was red glitter, but now I know better... It is actually flakies. Red, and packed with flakies. Being such a bold color, I only used to use it for Christmas.

Old bottles of polish: Christian Dior 489 Cobalt

Hello everyone!

I am very sad to say that Dior is on the list of companies that do test on animals. I am very concerned about animals well being, and have stopped to buy Dior.

So this is not meant as advertisement. I just wanted to show you an old and beautiful nail polish.

I do not know if anyone are interested in seeing the old part of my nail polish collection. Most of those bottles are probably not available any more... A few of the caps are kind of glued on, and can not be opened. But others are still OK to wear. Some of them just needed a lot of shaking, before the color looked nice again. And some were so empty and lumpy that I just tried them on a nail wheel. Anyway, I want to show you a few of my old polishes. I will start with my favorite blue:

"3 triangles"

Hello everyone!

As I have written about earlier, the blog My Awesome Beauty by Sophie is celebrating its 6 month anniversary with a nail art competition. We can chose between two of Sophie's designs; "1-2-3 arrows" or "3 triangles", use her tutorial, and make our own version.  To read more about her competition, click here, and about the prizes here.

I have made my version of  "3 triangles", with the combination of black with flakies, gold-silver and dark pink. I love the light layering, and the see- through- effect of the pink and the gold-silver. But it was not easy to photograph such a shiny manicure, so the colors, and especially the pink, look more dull than in real life.

Pink- pinker- pinkest

Hello everyone!

Today I want to show you a pink striped gradient manicure I made in September. This is also my entry to the Rebecca Likes Nails nail art contest.

We could use one or more of these nail art techniques or themes; gradients, animal print, bows, dots, and Hello Kitty. And submit in the same way as in the Chalkboard Nails contest. To read more about Rebeccas contest, the rules, see the other entries, or join the contest, click here. There is still time to participate! You must submit before 11:59pm, March 26th, 2012.

First some nailphotos, and then I will tell you which pinks I used. And let us hope Rebecca (and the judges) likes my nails. :-)

5-pack minis from H&M. Part III: Bronze + Nfu- Oh 59

Hello everyone!

I had to update the article because when it comes to Nfu- Oh, I have not been able to get information about animal testing. I have seen that other bloggers have Nfu- Oh on the "not tested on animals"- list, but I have not managed to get that confirmed. So at the moment it is difficult for me to buy nail polish from this company.

5-pack minis from H&M. Part II: Beige+ Nfu- Oh 49

Hello everyone!

Beige on its own:

5-pack minis from H&M. Part I

Hello everyone!

Today I want to show you something new, cheap and cruelty free!   :-)

It is a 5-pack set of mini nail polishes from H&M. There is no name written on the box, and no information about it on hm.com, but on the receipt it says "EVERYDAY SEASONAL", but I do not know if that is a name or what. The polishes are simply called: Red, Beige, Blue, Bronze and Pink. I bought the set about two weeks ago, and it is still available in the store.

Because of many photos, I chose to divide it up. So this is part I. First I will show you what the set looks like, and then we will look at Blue, Red and then Pink with some holo layering. And in part II, hopefully soon, you can see Bronze and Beige with flakie- layering.

Missha HGR 01 posing for my camera

Hello everyone!

I had to update this article, because when it comes to Missha, I have not been able to get information about animal testing. So I want to tell you that this is not meant as advertisement. I am very concerned about animals well being, and have stopped to buy Missha. But these things change, so you should always check the animal organisations lists before buying a product, because those lists are updated.

I have had "Missha HGR 01" on my wishlist ever since I saw pictures of it at the blog Neglelakkmani. I bought it on eBay, and it came all the way from South Korea with only 1$ for shipping, and here it is:

The nail polish looks very nice in real life. It also behaved nice, posing for the camera, changing its appearance all the time, making the hand move only to see what it would look like in a different angle, and it managed to keep looking good in all light- conditions:

Glitter- illusion- dots

Hello everyone!

This is my very first attempt on making a post on my first blog ever. I have taken pictures of my polished nails for some time, so I have a lot to show you. But first I have to learn how to blog and how to watermark the photos.

I thought I could start by trying to show the nailphotos I submitted to Chalkboard Nails dotting tool nailart contest, this weekend. To go to Sarahs blog, Chalkboard Nails, and find out all about the dotting tool nailart contest she is hosting, and see all the entries, click here.

My entry to Chalkboard Nails nail art contest:

I tried to make dots that should look like big glitter, with the dotting tool and various nailpolishes in a random order

Here you see the silver-purple color of the duochrome polish. It was much more difficult to capture than the silver or silver- green.

I hope you liked my pictures! If you look at the other entries in this competition, you will see that there are a lot of beautiful designs, so I doubt I will win. But it was fun to come up with ideas, and I am so glad I partisipated, and excited about finally having a blog, even though it has been a lot to learn about how to do everything on the PC, and so difficult that I several times almost gave up. But my best friend helped me, again and again. And next time everything will not be new :-)

For this design, I used two Deborah Lippmann polishes; Wicked Game, and Happy Birthday on the tips. Then I added dots of nailpolish in some of the same colors that you find in the glitter.

I feel so good using the Deborah Lippmann polishes because they are cruelty free. It is even written on the bottlebox. I wish all the brands who do not test on animals, would mark their products too. To see Deborah Lippmanns collection klick here.
